
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced ahead of the 30th Convocation ceremony; that the institution would award a
total of 48 students with the First Class Degree Honour out of the total 5,421 graduating students.
According to the UNIILORIN Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the awards of degree would take place on the Thursday 23rd October, 2014. Proceeding with the breakdown of the graduating students’ performance, he stated that: about 1,190 students are graduating with second-class upper degree; a further 2,814 will be awarded the Second Class Lower degree while 1,068 will bag the third class degree and 84 will get the pass grade.
He added that 18 Diploma graduates, 642 master’s degree, 106 Ph.D and 142 postgraduate Diploma graduates will receive their certificate during the convocation ceremony.
Proceeding further he stated, that 12 of the First Class graduates are from the Faculty of Engineering; 11 are from the Faculty of Physical Sciences; 9 from the Faculty of Life Sciences; 6 from the Faculty of Agriculture and 5 from the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences. The Faculty of Management Sciences produced two First Class graduates this year while the Faculties of Arts, Basic Medical Sciences and Education produced one first class graduate each.
